Ever See a Ghost?

I have a confession. Whenever people or pets pass on in my life they always come to visit me in my dreams afterward. They usually only come to visit once or twice. I've come to the point where I am anxious until they visit. In the dream they tell me they are just fine and they have made it to the other side okay as well as for me not to worry. The whole dream is very soothing and it then allows me to let go of my worry. Although I may have other dreams with them in it, the experience is different from when they 'visit' me. I suppose one could interpret this as a psychological coping mechanism for my grief but I believe they visit me through God's grace and love and that the experience is real. I can't explain it other than it is a 'knowing' feeling. Otherwise, I've never seen a ghost, spirit or had any other brushes with other side at all. What about you? Anybody ever see a ghost!

I have not seen a ghost myself, but it's neat that you get that kind of "knowing," whether it's psychological or not. To you, it's real, and it accomplishes the purpose you need for it to, and that's really all that matters.

I think I've "heard" the ghost of my sister a few days after she died, but it's hard to explain. The short version is that I thought I heard her sneaking up on me in the hallway to our bedroom. I would have sworn I saw a shadow as well, but I'm not sure. The whole thing totally unnerved me, so if it was her, she was still picking on me and scaring the bejeezus out of me! :)

That is cool and I'm sure very comforting. I have lost three grandparents and one pet in the last few years, but none have come back to tell me they are okay. I kind of wish they would. Especially Scout. Since she died so suddenly, I'd like to know she's alright now and that she's not mad at me. Regardless of everything the vets said, I still have a shred of doubt left and I'd just like to hear it from her that everything is okay and that I made the right decision. Is that weird?

Cheryl - your ghost story cracks me up because it would be just like your sister to scare you one last time. I would take it as a compliment that she wanted to come do that just once more! :)

A ghost resides in my sister's in-law house. My nephew was giving a tour during the Tour of Homes and a door slammed - but no one was there. Someone asked, and he said "Oh, that's just the ghost". They rushed down the stairs and out the door.

I've never seen it, but they grew up sleeping in the upstairs where the ghost hangs out.

Cheryl, that sounds like something my brother would do also!

Dianne,
I don't think it's weird at all about wanted to a little closure Scout's passing. I have two friends (that you know:) had a phone session with an Interspecies Communicator otherwise known as a pet psychic to correct behavior problems. My instinct tells me to be skeptical but I've never had the experience and they both swear by it. I'm they could give you numbers/references if you are interested.

Laura, your sister's house sounds like a place for the 'Ghost Busters'!

Laura, your nephew sure knows how to clear a room!

Donna,I think I had a cousin that told me about an interspecies communicator once. It seems like you also told me about your (our?) friends that did that and had great results. I can't remember who it was though. Send me an email and tell me. :) I don't think I'll contact them, but hey, if I did, maybe Ty could tell me why she is determined to ruin my carpet and make sure that I am NEVER able to sell this house!

The house is the house of the in-laws, although the plans are for my sister and husband to move there when she retires. We'll see. It's on the national register of historic homes and the ghost is a bona fide resident - comes with the house :-)

Dianne, you are selling your house?

I have an almost ghost story about the cabin. I'll share it in person someday.

That's pretty cool, Donna. I had a dream with my dad in it a few months ago. I still tear up just thinking about it.

I pictured him as a secret government agent. Luis and I were in airports (I'm sure that's because Luis and I spent so many days in airports during our long- distance dating). My dad kept appearing out of the corner of my eye. He would even walk in front of us sometimes. But I knew not to recognize him or speak to him, so as not to reveal his identity because he was probably working. My dad really did work for the goverment, but behind a desk. I guess I was trying to think of my dad as a super hero in the dream. Anyway, I finally caught him alone in a small hallway and I told him that we really missed him a lot and that I love him. He said he loved me too. And that's all I remember. I kept trying so hard to go back to sleep to go back to the dream, but with no avail. I hope that was really him talking to me.

I forgot to add that no, I have never encountered a ghost. It really intrigues me, but I'm not entirely sure if I ever want to see one. I think I would freak out!
